Ohiwa Harbour
Feb 14, 2018
As you leave Ohope beach heading towards Opotiki you first pass the Oyster farm on your left, then after a couple of bends you can look across the Harbour and see Waiotahi headland and beach in the distance. Ohakana Island on the left and the mainland to the right frame the scene. I have been thinking about painting this for at least ten years, I’m a regular traveler down the East Coast and I often come past Ohiwa either early morning or late evening, it is always very beautiful.
So the paint is still wet but its as good as finished, Oil on Linen 1520 x 560mm.
Being born and bred an Eastern Bay local make these paintings special, and I expect to do it well. I enjoyed the whole experience, I hope you enjoy the painting and a few of the progress pics.
The original will be available and I will do 10 Limited Edition Prints – hand re-touched with brush. Contact me for more information – Wayne 027 3077296
Now I’m starting another painting I have put off for a few years, an historic woolshed beneath Mount Hikurangi much further around the Coast.
Cheers, Wayne
